I'm planning to meet with a buddy at his place in Portage Park and go out to Wrigleyville, and returning after midnight.

We're discussing possibly taking the 77 Belmont bus and/or the Blue line (and thus transferring to the Red).
I've commuted daily on the Blue line in the day, but only once took it late at night with a group of friends and I don't remember much of that night in general...

I know the Blue line runs 24/7, and the Belmont bus 24/7 to Central. After midnight, would you recommend the bus or the Blue line?
Or maybe we should just suck it up and pay for a cab....

I don't get it. Does taking public transportation after dark frighten you or...are you just really indecisive?

Indecisive - I should have asked what the average wait time is for a bus around 12:30 or so vs the Blue line trains.

I'd take the bus, going all the way downtown is way out of the way.

Take the bus there and split a cab on the way home.

I'd agree with this. If you're going to be drinking, a cab is worth every penny.

Thanks - that's what we've also been considering. Would you know how much cab fare would be around? I don't mind taking public transit either...provided it's reliable time-wise.

Where in Portage Park is he? If he's close to Belmont, I'd just take the bus. It runs once every 1/2 hour during Owl hours which are about 1-5am.

If he's not close to Belmont, then cab it.

I've taken a cab from Clark and Addison to Foster and Nagle, it was around $20.

Be a man and ride the bus. Of course it will have to be Belmont or Irving Park since Addison does not run very late.
