Does the Illinois governor's race go to a runoff if no one wins 50%?

Does that happen anywhere in the general election? I think of that as a primary thing.

Brady's social agenda was pathetic and why he thankfully lost. It's a shame we can't get a real small govt republican, not these small govt except for your personal life fundie bible banger types.

I was reading today that in Vermont if a governor candidate doesn't get 50%, the legislature selects the new Guv.

That's interesting, currently the leader has a 50% to 48% lead but there is still 8% of precincts out there.

I could be confused and thinking about primaries, but I seem to remember that Louisiana went to a runoff.

All the votes have not been counted yet. And more importantly the military votes have not been counted. I do not know how it works ( I am sure the dates are all similar) in the counties and Cook County, but the Chicago election board has a deadline of November 16 to receive an Absentee and Military/Overseas Voter ballot in the mail.

"The Board must receive the returned ballot by Nov. 16, 2010 for the ballot to be counted."

Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago

Board of Election Commissioners for the City of Chicago

Sure. The absentee ballots have not been counted and the outstanding ballots were largely Cook/Chicago. Brady lost, it's a shame the GOP had to trot out a bible banging big govt conservative, they would have won in a landslide otherwise. This will take a month to unravel, but Brady lost.
