Eye of the Hawk from Mendocino brewing is one of the cheaper strong beers around - I've seen it for less than $8/6-pack. It's an 8% beer.

Some local options are Bell's Two Hearted, Three Floyds Dreadnaught, and Two Brothers Cane and Ebel. Do you have a style you prefer? There are loads of different types of beer in that alcohol range.

The Jewel at Ashland and Clark might have one or two of them. Andersonville Wine and Spirits at Foster and Clark would definitely have all of them (and more).

*Sigh* Lucky bastard.

It's a cruel Catch-22 that I'm too broke to get lit up, whereas being in such a desperate financial straits makes me wish I could go out and get lit up.
