I'm looking for my favorite brand of root beer: Henry Weinhard's.

According to the following website (Henry Weinhard's: Ask Henry (http://www.henryweinhards.com/hw/faq.aspx - broken link)), Henry Weinhard's Root Beer can be found in the Greater Chicagoland Jewel and Dominick's grocery stores. I have been to at least a dozen stores in and around Chicago, but I have never found any Henry Weinhard products (Root Beer, Vanilla Creme, Orange Creme, etc.). I have even made special requests at some stores, but have never heard back.

Has anyone seen any of Henry Weinhard's gourmet sodas sold anywhere in Chicago?

Can't you just order it online by the case?

Do you look down the soft drink aisles at Jewel or Dominick's? They will not have that stuff in a cooler case.

I imagine if I find HW Root Beer, it will be near where other less common sodas like Goose Island or Sprechers is located.

I've ordered some on-line, but since it is shipped in glass bottles, the shipping gets quite expensive, hence why I'm trying to find it locally.

How are Goose Island or Sprecher's "less common" in the Chicago area or this region than HW?

GI is from Chicago and Sprecher's is from Milwaukee.

What you are looking for is from Oregon.

But yeah, HW would probably be close to the GI and Sprecher's.

By "less common" he means "less common than A&W and Barq's and the like and therefore likely to be in a separate gourmet section rather than on the shelves next to the national brands."

Anyway, I have never seen Henry Weinhard's root beer. Didn't even know it exists. Been probably a solid 10 years since I've seen Henry Weinhard's beer for that matter.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Goose Island products are good, but only found in limited quantities in a particular part of Jewel-Osco. I can't just pick up a Goose Island RB at a 7-11, whereas A&W can be found just about anywhere in the U.S.
