You proved my point about you not walking .93 miles in 10 minutes. So unless you are a speedwalker you are FOS. And I highly doubt the OP and his buddy are speedwalkers.

Wow and you are still going on about it...Ok, I honestly didn't think I would be thrown under a microscope for this. Jeez talk about picky. I apologize to the OP for being so STUPID and saying I could walk that in 10 minutes. It might have taken me 15. And if that extra 5 minutes it takes you to walk back to your hotel ruins your Chicago weekend I am totally to blame.

I'm not a native, but when I visited Chicago I parked my car at Midway for about $6/day. Then took the orange line to the hotel. Rather than driving around an hour looking for a parking spot, couldn't they just park at the airport then take the el to their hotel?

The El from Midway to their hotel is an hour - minimum!

That's a good point. I guess they can decide whether they want to drive their pickup truck around and look for a place to park, or ditch it and ride.

There are plenty of other places to ditch it if they're looking to ditch it. Midway would be horribly inconvenient if you're staying on the north side. At least an hour and two trains. Plus if there are two of them, it'd be 6/day parking plus 2.25 per person each way, for a total of 9 bucks in train fare, which is certainly lower than 22/day, but not a home-run. Parking in a neighborhood would be better, in my opinion, but if they're going garage, they might as well go all out.

Or, they can simply do what they've already decided to do, use the hotel parking.

Park it in the garage and buy one less bottle of water at Wrigley and you're already out on top.

Coming up from Little Rock, AR in a truck at $3/gallon and paying $22/day for parking--maybe it's easier (and cheaper??) to just fly. Then they just jump on the train and don't have to worry about the truck, period. And there's no getting lost on the highways, nor any "I hope my truck isn't being broken into" thoughts floating in the back of their heads while toking up during Dave.

Visiting the city--why not take advantage of the opportunity to learn about public transit.
