Good Luck on your decision.

I might add you can walk to that train from the college, just a couple of blocks, as well as downtown Elmhurst. The commute to the city is approx 25 minutes, easy.

Elm Coll is a nice, well-respected college w/ a good reputation. Small, very personal, high standards. Excell in education, business also strong in music. Great variety of students from all cultures and backrounds. Their admission staff does a great job recruting good students.

Only reason my 2 adult children did not attend there was because they wanted different experinces: one ended up at Lehigh (PA) the other at Knox (western IL, very ver small).

Good luck wherever you land.

Elmhurst's campus is clean and beautiful, but very small. I had some of their chicken tenders. . . boy were they good! Best tenders I've eaten so far, and coming from a college cafeteria! I know they have a solid music program which two of my high school classmates are currently enrolled, and they seem to enjoy it immensely. I'm not sure about their reputation though. Since it's a small school relatively unknown I guess you really have to stand out and build your connections in your chosen field. It's private = expensive, but if you have solid grades and good ACT/SAT scores you may get a nice financial package from them since privates are rather generous when it comes to aid. Also, be aware the student population lacks diversity - so if you want diversity then Elmhurst may not be for you. If you want sports keep in mind it's a DIII school. Keep in mind location - how far does it take for you to drive to/from Elmhurst to your home?

Summary:
-close to Chicago
-private
-mostly white and kids are usually from surrounding area
-DIII
-tiny campus
-nice town (relatively safe)
-good chicken tenders

Very important:Have a campus tour before you apply. You don't want to not like the campus that you'll be living on for four years. Can you call it your "home" away from home? Make sure the school is a good "fit" for you academically and socially.

Ah, yes. I should have read your posts more carefully. Don't make the same mistake I did -- making the college application process too stressful.
