Relocating from Madison WI. Professional, mid 40's, looking to rent in AH. Need easy access to expressways as I travel through IL and WI for work. Looking for apartment recommendations in downtown AH or walking distance to the downtown. Looking to rent for $1500 or less per month. If not AH how is the Palatine downtown area?

I am sure you can find sometihing quite nice near downtown AH for under $1500.

Becuase of the way NW Highway angles and the relative postion of AH downtown vs Palatine there is alot more happening in downtown AH than Palatine. Marginally better access to 53 and Jane Adamms tollroad too..

Palatine has had a lot of new construction downtown the last 15 years. It has bars & restaurants like AH, just not as many. AH also has movie theater, live theater and chains like Starbucks, Panera & California Pizza Kitchen mixed in with local venues. AH's library is also close walking distance to downtown. My wife described Palatine's downtown as less "yuppy-ish" and I agree.

Check out Dunton Towers. I've lived there for a year now. it's in your price range (for a 2bed, 2 bath). They have a pool and work out room.
