My boyfriend and I are thinking about renting a place in Glendale Heights but we aren't sure of the safety of the complex. It's off of Fullerton Rd, east of Glen Ellyn Road and north of Glen Oaks Hospital. Is this a reasonably safe place? I sometimes work late and come home after it's dark, and my boyfriend works some night shifts. I just want to make sure that I won't have to worry too much about gang violence/theft/shady characters lurking around outside my window at night, etc. Thanks for any replies!

Default Relative to what?

Safe compared to Logan Square or Englewood? Absolutely. Safer than Downers Grove, not at all.

There are lots of parts of Glendale Heights
where both the lower income types and the bored suburban types do commit property crimes, do make cash off illegal activiites and do look for people to harass.

Like most suburbs the police try to monitor the actual "making a living illegally" gang affiliates, but the wanna bees outnumber about 1000 to 1.

While I personally rather avoid a town that has even wanna bees if the price and location are good then you have to decide if the 'humor' of having some idiot looking rap / gang wanna bee stare at you is enough to offset the risk that the joker gets all meth'ed up and tries to pull something...

If you spend a little bit more, maybe rent a townhouse instead of an apartment in some big complex, odds of having low lifes nearby are smaller.

Yes, aside from a few problem apartment complexes.

Default Glenlake Club

I insure several tenants in the Glenlake Club apartments in Glendale Heights. The complex is clean and appears to be safe...no complaints from my customers and the management staff is friendly.
