Just about any vehicle GM cranked out in the last 30 years. GM is still struggling to think outside the box. Listen, GM, screw the goddamn beancounters and design something to talk about.
Exactly. If the Cruze is supposed to be impressive, it ought to get 60-80MPG. I mean, the Chevette had .2 more liters and a power-sapping TH200 yet the MPGs are the same. Come on, GM.
If you could find a 1980s diesel subcompact that was originally sold in the USA, you can get upwards to 60MPG still.
It would appear that the 1973 oil crisis and the 1979 takeover was more effective at lighting fires under the automakers' asses than the 2008 $4/gal gas did.
You completely missed my point before, and you're comparing apples to oranges. The Cruze is larger and will weigh much more than a Chevette. Weight is the biggest factor in fuel economy. And unlike those 80's econoboxes, the Cruze won't be doing 0-60 in 15 seconds.
Again, what other automaker offers a modern non-hybrid C/D segment vehicle that gets 40 mpg? Answer: none.
Whats wrong with the Cobalt? It wasn't built to be a show car, it was built to compete with the Focus, Corolla etc. etc. and it does.
I own a Focus and I've driven a Corolla and Cobalt. There isn't anything spectacular about any of them, but I don't think theres supposed to be.
Yes, the Cobalt was built to compete with the Corolla and Civic, Focus, etc... but never competed well on any level with those cars. Read any review out there you can find. It may have bested the Suzuki Forenza, if it was lucky, but that's about it.

I'm not real big into the "Reviews". I find most of them to be extemely biased and they ***** about the most asinine things which generally result in major point deductions.
When I want a review, I carry my butt down to the local dealership.
