The Cruze has always been built in Lordstown, so I don't know what so radical about the status quo.

Maybe they can rattle some of the empty skulls in GM's top management and get them to build the Cruze hatchback there and sell it here in the US. The Orlando, too. I had a good laugh, they're shutting down production of the Chevy Volt for lack of sales and MSNBC had them listed as one of America's most loved cars.

This is news? All it is, is a statement that they will continue to do the same thing. Just how much control does the Obama administration have over GM(Government Motors?) If this were not the silly season, would this press release have happened?

These kind of press releases happen all the time when a manufacturer commits to making monetary investment in a plant to build a future model there (even if it is a new version of the same model). Maybe it is getting so much attention due to the political silly season, but there is nothing unusual about GM doing this.

Example;
