To me the Imperial is the best looking of the three; modern, proportioned and classically styled. This is a very good car with the exception of the notoriously complex and unreliable fuel injection system (easy swap to carb). Great gas mileage (tall rear-axle ratio) and bullet-proof 5.2 liter V8. And the Frank Sinatra Edition surely has more panache than a Biarritz Caddy or a signature edition Lincoln.
The Mark VI styling is terribly derivative and ill-proportioned. The Mark retains all of the hallmark Lincoln cliche's of an earlier era but just doesn't wear them as well as the earlier Mark V; dated for sure!
The Eldorado, Riviera and Toronado are all exceptionally well styled cars. Modern and innovative (longitudinally mounted diesel and V8-6-4 engines, torsion bars, etc) but saddled with poorly engineered Hydramatic transmissions and sickly 5.7 liter gas engines converted to diesels (head gasket nightmare). Not to mention the notoriously unreliable V8-6-4 and the subsequent aluminum HT4100 engine. Who can afford to restore a car that was poorly engineered from the factory! I think I would stick with the V6 powered Riviera.
All good cars. 4-6-8 is good just as an 8. 307s are good, but what v6 did the Riviera use?
I'd go with an Imperial especially Sinatra edition as it is more unique and rare. Also the last true Imperial before Imperials went back to being a Chrysler. Most people think all Imperials are Chryslers.
