Yep. Olds also tried it with the Cutlass Salon.... well it was kinda like it...
yessir... and not just olds but also the buick offered the same body... Chevy, Pontiac, Olds and buick also had the square body too which sold much better, but Chevy and pontiac never offered the bussle back styling that buick and olds did....

yeah, i remember the eagle version but im not sure i ever saw any with a dodge nameplate on them... reason i remember the eagle sedans, there was an jeep/eagle dealer right outside the military post where i was stationed....
Those sure are a big difference from the '60s and '70s full-size Dodge Monaco which could be had with big 383- and 440-cu-in engines!
Yep another desecration of an old car name....
Here's what a real Monaco looks like....

The 1977-78 models were well known for use as bad guys cars as well as police cars on some shows such as TJ Hooker, Hunter, ChiPs and even Dukes Of Hazzard:
Yeah, I was thinking there was a Buick version as well.... here is a pic of one below... Must have been more rare. I still occasionally see the Olds version of this style, but I have not seen a Buick version like t his in a long time....

Yeah... I have only seen a couple of the Dodge versions... apparently they were quite rare. The Eagle was rare too, but I still see some of these occasionally... in fact I saw one about 5 days ago.
btw whos throwing ads for some chrysler dealer on here?? i thought this is an open forum not a place to advertise for some chrysler dealer or fiat or whoever owns them now...

Are you referring to the allpar site? I dont think its a dealer... its just a website for Mopar fans. Sometimes when you post a link from there, it dont show and only shows what you see there.

Thanks to lincsta for helping put this forum thread on my radar screen--somehow I missed this one this past summer!
Of the three cars to choose from in the first post, being able to look back, I'd rank them: 1) Lincoln Mark VI; 2) Chrysler Imperial; 3) Cadillac Eldorado. They're all good-looking, but I think you really need to have rear-wheel drive for cars this large. The Imperial takes a really close second to the Lincoln--the Imperial's stunning looks just edged out by the Lincoln's good looks and I think (I might be wrong) somewhat better reliability.
Bit of a thread drift, but I totally agree about slapping classic names on newer cars that have no resemblance to the older ones. That early '90s Dodge "Monaco" was actually a Renault product if memory serves me right. I think American Motors owned part or all of Renault, and Lee Iacocca's Chrysler bought American Motors mainly for the Jeep lineup, and also got Renault's cars that would become the Eagle (short-lived make, unfortunately) Premier and sister "Monaco." Anyone remember the early '80s Dodge "Chargers"? They used to be the Dodge 024s before getting renamed--nothing at all like Bo and Luke Duke's General Lee!

Yes I remember them, they were nothing like the Duke's Charger. In fact IMO, 1974 was the last year of the true Charger. After that they were rebadged Chrysler Cordobas before moving to the FWD line. Then I think they were built on the same platform as the Omni 2 door hatchback.
If its ford and GM i know about those, but when it comes to chrysler im lost... i'm learning quite a bit abuot them from you guys... things i never knew about the company... =)

Those Centuries both need one of these...
