I'm cost accounting thinking about moving to Chattanooga from Kansas, but I grew up in St. Louis. I like culture and nice small house to rent. I want an accounting job with a manufacturer. I just want to make sure I make the right choice. Please give me good reasons to move there and bad reasons not to move there.

Any help will be great. Thanks.

Hi ejo,

Thanks for considering Chattanooga for your relocation. This is a good smaller city. There is much to do here. Lots of free music. Tons and tons of outdoor activities (also free) from hiking, mtn biking, road biking, world class kayaking, rock climbing, boating. We are also centrally located between Nashville, Atlanta, Birmingham if you need a big city feel for a weekend or 2. We are a 6 hour drive to the beach and only 2 to 4 hours from the Smokey Mtns. Fortunately, with VW, Amazon, VW Support companies and a couple more really big names rumored to be relocating here you chances of scoring an accounting joy w/ a mfg are pretty good. Hope this helps. Have a good one!

I would guess other marques associated with VW, like Audi and Porsche.

Is Chattanooga a good town?

Chattanooga is a decent place to live. The city is close to many state parks and is in the mountains, so there is plenty to do. Like anywhere in America, there are sections of the city you don't want to live in.

Not meaning to hijack, but is there a lot of dirtbike trails in that part of TN or is it a lot of off limits private property, state property, etc? Here in California we have millions of square miles of desert, however, more and more are being closed off.
