My favorite grocery store uptown is Reid's (on 7th, right at the light rail line). They're a bit more expensive, but they are a nice mix between a grocery store and a specialty food store - and they have a fabulous bakery.

I do not live Uptown (but have friends that do), so I will do my best, many others I'm sure will weigh-in.

Mexican food: La Paz, it's more Tex-Mex, but I love it.

Fish and Chips: Big Ben's on Providence, but they burned down early this morning.
Hopefully they will rebuild.

Pizza place: Brixx on East.
Brick oven European style, not NY or Chicago style - but very good.

Sushi place: Nikko Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar.

Hamburger joint: From your location Big Daddy's on East, although I prefer The Counter near Southpark.

Draught beer selection: The Liberty on South.

Eagerly awaiting other's responses to the items I cannot answer!

Ice Cream - Ben and Jerry's on Providence near Dartmouth Place

Grocery store - The Harris Teeter at Morrowcroft - their flagship store which always has the best produce.

Specialty foods store - Reid's uptown at the end of the light rail line

Best fresh fish market - haven't ever found one we are too far from the coast.

Pizza place - Brixx's in uptown

Breakfast - The Pancake House right on Charlottetown Ave

Outside Breakfast - hmmmm.....can't think of any

Gym w/ good functional fitness training - the uptown YMCA or the Central YMCA

Hamburger joint - the best in the city just happens to be close to uptown - The Penguin - best hamburger ever!!

Draught beer selection - probably the Fox and Hound uptown

Pastry shop - dang, what is the name of that place in NoDa??? Oh yeah, Amelie's - http://www.yelp.com/biz/amelies-french-bakery-charlotte

Bakery - Suarez (Park Rd. Shopping Center) http://charlotte.citysearch.com/prof...akery_inc.html

I have to learn fast and this helps me tremendously! That does suck that Big Ben's burned down. I do love good fish and chips! We will check out your suggestions when we are moved down here! Looking forward to checking things out! We have only been 3 places in Charlotte: Maria's on south, Chipotle, and a little burrito place by the light rail. I will let you know my favorites once I have some!

Later,

-Chris-
