I buy gas most of the time at one place near by and often use my debit card. The wife looks at the statement and asked me why I had spent just one doller there. I hadnt and didnt know what it was for unless it was a debit card use fee or whatever. I told her I had bought about 25 bucks worth of gas there around that time and to check for the debit. It wasnt there and so I guessed it wasnt processed yet so I forgot about it. Since then I purchased at least 100 bucks of gas and started waiting for the debit to come out but it never has just a one doller charge for ech visit. Last week while at the store I saw a pump repair truck at the pumps and asked the clerk if they were broken. She said they had not beem reading cards right..OH well I guess I got a bunch of free gas but it wasnt my fault ...I hope they dont go broke LOL I have nothing to say when Im overcharged for gas so I guess being undercharged gets the same treatment..I had nothing to say.

Yup, What Sunny said.

Just curious, did you not get a receipt with your gas? I accidentally almost drove off with free gas one time (same sort of thing, didn't read the card properly) but because the receipt didn't print I went in to ask the clerk to be sure. I paid inside and they closed the pump down right away.

I just couldn't do it....it's like going to the store and finding a $25 item mis-marked to $1 and then racing to buy a buggy full. Call it karma or conscience or whatever you want....I just couldn't do it.

I agree, I would write a check to the store for about the amount of gas you pumped.

If your wallet fell out of your pocket with a $100 you just withdrew to pay for something and someone picked it up.

Which scenario would you rather have? A wallet returned to you with cash or without.....

I would have to go back and pay for the gas. I try to do the right thing in all circumstances and feel like if I didn't it would come back to me in a bad way.

Problem here is the conception is the oil companies lose this money ...reality is the proprietors lose the money (I think) ...

I've tried convincing cashiers that something wasn't on sale, needing them to show me that it was. I've even asked, "are you sure that's right, it seems a little low". I'll pick off fairly quickly if I was undercharged and would easily go back to pay a difference if I spot it later.

If you can prove you were overcharged for an item you WILL be refunded that money each and every time. Make it work both ways. Go back and pay. It's not even for karma's sake, it's just the right thing to do.
