Indeed. I grew up in Horry county (Myrtle Beach, h is supposed to be silent). In those days if you decided to be a smart mouth kid, an adult would show you the back of their hand real fast. Case closed.

Agree. Time adults started insisting that kids use some decorum and stop it with the name-calling. Has anyone else noticed how acceptable it is to label other people these days? Label people, label particular kids, label schools, label neighborhoods. Stop it, already! The adults are quick to call the kids names (she's a HO) . . . no wonder the kids are doing it. Let's get some manners and decorum back into our lives.

It is great this high school is opening - the quality of education is what we need to have our eyes on - not the name of the place.

can't believe so many people get worked out about the name! Especially considering the so-called 'reasons'. Worried about students making up crude nicknames?!? Puh-lease. It's what kids do. I can think of stupid derogatory nicknames for just about anything... doesn't mean the names are bad, just means I have a good imagination.

Barringer could be "the bar"
Olympic could be "a limp d**k"
Hopewell could be "Ho sale"
Ardrey Kell? How 'bout "awful smell"? LOL.

People of the world... relax.
