J/K CCharlotte.

BTW - the info you have been given is correct. Even if you don't tell the examiner you moved here from CA . . . your SS# is in the big computer in the sky. They will send a message to invalidate your CA license.

Hehe thanks for the replies. I guess even if I do get a NC drivers license my next biggest opstical would be getting my license plates because I have absolutely no idea where my car title is

as a person who loses everything, i can tell you that you can get a duplicate one and it's not that hard. Just go to the DMV site and there will be instructions on what to do.

My husband applied for his NC license yesterday. He got to keep his Illinois license. I was surprised b/c when I moved from Florida to Illinois I had to give up my Florida one.

Maybe it's b/c the actual license arrives in the mail 2 weeks later? And what's up with that, by the way?

Could you ask him what the penalty would be for carrying 2 passports?
Certaintly, that's a bigger offense than a little bitty license. You would think??

When we got our NC license, we were told that they deactivated our TX license- but that we could keep it for photo id till our NC arrived.

Really? I got mine right there that day. Which I was surprised about because my former state takes an eternity to mail it to you.

It's new - Driver Licenses Mailed To Help Fight Fraud

Quote:
As of September 3, 2009, all North Carolina driver license offices are participating in the central issuance program. This means that original and renewal driver licenses, learner permits and identification cards are all produced in a central location and mailed to the applicant. Applicants receive a 20-day temporary driving certificate to use while their license is produced and mailed. Most licenses are mailed within five to 10 days. DMV encourages drivers to renew their driver licenses early. Applications for driver license renewals can be made up to six months before the renewal due date.
