Are you applying for a job with Wachovia (actually Wells Fargo?)

Please know that they are not hiring externally; they are only hiring internally due to the layoffs....

They are still hiring for specific positions, so is BofA and others. Not everything can be filled internally, but they are fairly specific niche positions.

To make a resume stand out . . .

First of all, make sure your grammar and spelling are perfect. Next, work on format. Are you using a template? There are many freebie templates available for MS Office.

You didn't tell us anything about yourself. Are you a new grad or have you had several jobs? What type of job are you trying to land?

Do you have special skills or projects you have worked on? If so, do a section w/ bullets highlighting those projects and any innovations or skills you brought to the effort.

Your cover letter is as important as your resume in getting someone's attention. Make sure it is well-written and addresses each area of expertise/education that the ad you are replying to has listed.

Use a good grade of paper for paper submissions.

Look up "key words" for your field and be sure to use them where appropriate.

Yea they are hiring. I don't know about full time but I still get calls regularly about open positions with the bank. I just got one this week as well.

I think being very descriptive on your resume will help. A lot of times people don't put enough information on their resume. They will just say 'supervised a team of 5 people.' Rather than describing who they supervised, why, and what they did while supervising them.

if you want to stand out, keep calling about the position. if you think you can just submit your resume and magic will happen, it wont. my gf works at wachovia and they get 50-100 applications a day and they offer workers $400-1000 new employee referrals as well. so, making it out of the blue won't happen unless you take some action! in other news, WB is firing 4k people in uptown and off w.t. harris...

you might want to try plan B.

They actually ARE hiring externally. I've been called for two positions that I applied for in the last week here in Charlotte.

Guess that they lied to the employees that I know who were assured that there would be no outside hiring for the next year to ensure that those that were laid off could find positions.....

So the WFC reputation begins...
