Who is the biggest employer BOA or Wachovia in Charlotte, NC. I am new to the area...
Wachovia is but that's for the time being really since Wells Fargo has acquired them and thousands of layoffs are very likely.
Wachovia used to employ near 20,000 people vs BoA 12,000 (these are approximates) so needless to say our city is going to suffer a transformation of sorts since a lot of these job losses are expected to be high paid employees and its consequent trickle down effect to related business and so forth.
This year we'll find out how well can we adapt to this massive change but I am optimistic we will pull it together and come off this even better than before.

I am afraid that the numbers for all the larger employers will be going down. I hope not...but we are not in the best of times right now. If you have a good paying job now a days & good benfits...you need to Thank GOD...everyday as I do!

Very true, 7 . . . and we all need to be aware of what is happening to our friends and neighbors and reach out to offer whatever support we can. A job lead . . . introduction to someone who may be hiring . . . anything that might be helpful . . .

Thats right...and PRAY for all the unemployed & homeless (adults & children). Char-Meck has 2,500 homeless students...and that number was alarming to me. We are all GOD's children.
