We are considering moving one of our grandparents out here to NC and are on the hunt for a great AL facility. I'd love to hear about any experiences you've had with them. Our search will be focussed primarily to Union County and Matthews. Thanks in advance.
I don't have personal experience but I can tell you there is a new one they just built in Matthews/Mint Hill section called Willow Grove. It's the same company that owns the one in South Charlotte.(name escapes me now)
It is right on Idlewild road, brand new. I think ready to be lived in.
I hope this helps
We looked into it for a family member it seems fantastic. I had no idea they offer SO MUCH.
BUT that family memeber is not moving here after all.
Hell, I would like to live there!
Carrington is more a skilled nursing/rehab facility. My MIL was there in May/June after a hospitalization. We were been dealing with the same issues about which assisted living place...we needed one in Ballantyne/Pineville area. She is now at The Regency in Pineville (right next to CMC Pineville). She was really enjoying it but then had to be admitted to the hospital again -- now she is in a much more weakened state. We have been happy generally speaking. You do still need to keep on top of things though.
My uncle, who has dementia, will be moving to Matthews. We've been looking into Sunrise on Rea Road or Providence Road. Do any of you have experience with either of those facilities?
We looked at Sunrise on Rea also, but when my MIL was ready to go they didn't have the size room she needed. Sunrise was on the short list for sure, the 1BR floorplans were better for my MIL's "stuff" at the Regency than they were at Sunrise.
A neighbor, whose mom had dementia, raved about the Sunrise off Providence. She said they were like family. We used to walk in the local Alzheimer's Walk and Sunrise was a sponsor.
Our girl scout troop has done Bingo with the residents at Legacy Heights Assisted Living near Stonecrest (actually next to the post office near Elm Lane). Everytime we have been in there it seems to be a clean and happy place.
There is a new AL community in Matthews that is opening around Sept 2009. My husband works for the company in Maryland and loves it. All the residents are very happy.
