My husband and I are considering a move to Charlotte NC but know very little to nothing about the area. Can someone please give us the names of areas and neighborhoods in Charlotte, with subdivisions or without, where we can find a fairly new home from $200K - 300K. We're looking for a safe, family oriented area where young professionals live. We’d also like to be near a lot of outdoor recreation a good school district, shopping and restaurants. If anyone could give us some information so we can have a place to start our research it would be much appreciated. HELP US GET OUT OF NY

Wow, that is really a broad question! Basically, you have many, many choices in your price range - too many to list here. The one thing I can tell you is this, you want to find jobs first, THEN decide where to live based on where those jobs are located. Charlotte is very spread out. You do not want to work on one end and live on the other. It is best to work and live as near to one another as possible. So concentrate on jobs first
Ok lets try most well known hospital. Any good neighborhoods around there??
Our two biggest hospital chains are Presbyterian and Carolinas Medical Center - each with huge main locations near uptown. They each also have satellite hospitals all over town, and both are considered great hospital systems. Really, so much depends on where you get a job
We're pretty fond of our quiet little subdivision. It's less than 5 miles from CMC-University- a midsize urban hospital. The schools in this part of Charlotte are some of the best. We are less than 3 miles from 3 parks. All in all a great area! By coincidence, there are a few houses for sale in the neighborhood.
I agree with previous posters -- too many options to list here. What else is important to you in a home besides the age of the home? We also relocated from NY, back in 1998 -- while $300K may not get you much in NY, you will have many options here
