I'm talking about a huge log of meat from say BJ's or Sam's. You then take it home and cut it up into individual cuts. If you have, where is the best store to do it at? I've seen it at BJ's for about $85-90 on strip steaks. Thanks

I did it once (in NY). I bought the beef tenderloin at BJ's and cut it into about 12 filet mignons. It was really good, very tender. It cost about $85 and I would definitely do it again.

In the pas I ahve bought the bulk filet's from Sams & BJ's you will waste a reasonable amount trimming them down, but still far better value than picking up trimmed filet's from the butcher.

If you ever get the chance on the food channels good eats shows you how to trim the filet, and then does a brandy peppercorn sauce.

One quick tip from me is I buy 88% ground beef from Costco for $2.39/lb. But I buy them as patties because I know roughly 2 patties equals a lb. So I vacum pack two patties at a time, plus I have ready to grill burgers if need be. Buying the ground beef as one large blob isn't any cheaper.
