I have one beige velvety lounging suit that I wear one day, a pair of black waterproof pants w/an old college sweatshirt that I wear another day, and more of the same the next day.

Some of you may remember how i worried about what to wear when we went up to Durham to meet the new girl. It was all for naught. My son called me on the computer yesterday when I was wearing the black thing/sweatshirt with hair in a sloppy bun. Not so bad until he turned on the camera and there I was on the screen looking my most glamorous. He was also there on the screen looking at me and who should be waving at me from behind him - you know, of course. Now she knows for sure that she's dating trash.

You're lucky, dunroven. I can't button any of my pre-retirement jeans any more - too fluffy

ROFL!!!! Now Barb, you are way too tiny to even use that term - "Fluffy" - there is not an inch of fluff on you anywhere!!!!!! And you may be blonde, but no fluff on the brain, either!!!!

Dear me - do I know the video cam dilemma. DS and gets on IM and suddenly - it turns into video chat and here I am - schlepping around - and his buds are waving at me! No way to pretend things are glamorous in this household w/ video cams intrude and PROVE I am sitting here in sweats! HA HA HA - well . . . at least our kids know we are REAL!!!! <and love us regardless . . . >

You're right about our kids knowing we're real - mine sure do. I'm just not sure that I'm ready to have The Girl know how real I really am. I'd just as soon have her know the Ann Taylor and Chico (via the Jr. League Wearhouse) me a little longer.

Thanks for the "Fluffy" comments. You just don't see what's hidden beneath those long jackets I often wear.

I have two sets of Jeans one smaller than the the other for those times I just need a "litte" more room.

For those of you retired or working at home, do you find that you don't wear makeup any more? I've realized that I just get dressed no makeup and head out each day. Recently my sister asked me if I wanted to use her makeup,,,,
do you think she might have been trying to tell me something? Oh well!

Hey Charlottere I must feel the same cause I'm colombian and I always try to dress nice and always keep on top of how I look and appear to others, not that their opinion really counts but it is nice to get some looks. All you gentlemen that dress like you just got out of bed it's time to step up your game and go buy some nice clothes !

Ohhhhhh . . . the makeup issue!!!!! DH hates it when I dont "fix up." I don't feel like doing "full drag" every day, Hee Hee. So I barely put on anything much here at home (a little foundation, mascara, lipstick) DH likes the whole nine yards. Today, just for the heck of it, I put on some makeup. I look soooooo much better w/ it, sad to say. I even put on earrings.

You Go Girl! I'll try to do better tomorrow after all I would be doing the world a favor.

So I guess the answer to the original message is that we dress and makeup for others even when we try to dress and make up for ourselves, sometimes.
