Did you mean to post this in the Homeschooling thread? Or were 504s referenced earlier in the thread before it was bumped?
In the 1st message in this particular thread, see the 504 reference. However, the OP did not ask anything related to home schooling, shared her child is in a mainstream classroom, and mentioned "... while everyone looks at 'the best schools' I need to find the best school for her".
The OP started this thread several months ago. I wonder if she has moved yet?
We live in Waxhaw/Marvin, and last year I worked in West Charlotte, but I left the house at 6am, so the 27 miles to work was only about 35-40 minutes without traffic. My husband works in Uptown and also leaves at 6am to beat the traffic. On the days he has to go in it takes 35-40 minutes. He works from home 3 days out of 5.
With traffic it can take over an hour.
I would not look at Marvin if most of what you will be doing is up on the West side. I would look at Fort Mill and possibly Ballantyne and South Charlotte areas.
parents live in waxhaw/marvin way too much commute time if your working in charlotte , it may not be so bad if it was south charlotte or you were working in lancaster , monroe etc
I wouldn't take that realtor's advice at all. Waxhaw is a southeast suburb of Charlotte, relatively far from north Charlotte. Union County (where Waxhaw is located) is the only county in metro Charlotte that has housing prices above the national average and has the most horrendous commute into Charlotte of any other suburban county. Their traffic is abysmal. I would look at Belmont and Mt. Holly. You will have good access to Charlotte and get a lot of home for your money. Good luck in your search!
