Drove by that epicentre place - looks pretty nice so far..Reminds me of Sunset Place in Miami.
Gonna be one of the BEST thing that has happenned to Uptown!
It is gonna bring a movie theater, bowling, more restaurants and clubs, retail & residentail along with a new "Aloft Hotel" affiliated with the "W Hotel" chain.
Uptown is booming and all of us Uptown residents really appreciate it. Plus people here on business or attending a convention will have more things to do.
Why do they call it Uptown instead of downtown? just curious
It use to be called "Downtown" until 1987.
Downtown Charlotte use to be very small only a few buildings and it was dirty and had crime and you would never go there unless you worked there.
Then they changed it to "Uptown" for a new image. If you have been Uptown...you know that for a center city...it is spotless clean, new, many buildings, alot of residential now and it is booming.
Downtown to me has a negative image. Uptown is more vibrant!
Plus it is perched up on a little hill so you have to go UP!
yeah the biggest thing i notices what NO HOMESLESS PEOPLE
There are homeless people (and PLEASE PRAY for them!).
They are just not allowed on Tryon or Trade St's. I think that is a shame. YES they might ask for money but remember they are GOD's children too!
Years back Charlotte ran them off the main streets and the Police will make sure they are not wondering the main streets. Is that fair?
6,000 - 8,000 adults and children are homeless each night in Charlotte....VERY SAD!!!
