Although I am currently attending UNC-Charlotte and live on an on-campus apartment there, I am thinking about becoming a resident of the Charlotte area for the next 3 to 5 years. I currently work in a local grocery store where I live now (Caldwell County, NC), but I have an Associates Degree in Science and I could probably find a job at a Best Buy or bank somewhere. Since I'll be attending UNCC until about May 2010, I would like to find a cheap-ish apartment with a reliable landlord. As far as safety goes, as long as a locked apartment door keeps the criminal out (I know better than to open a door without know who it is or leave my car door unlocked).

High-speed Internet would also be a big plus, and I suppose I could bring my furniture down or get some new stuff.

Thanks

Also, if need be, I could go out as far as Concord or Huntersville.

For Huntersville, at exit 23 Gilead Road you could look at the Colonial Grand Apartments. Brand new, nice looking but don't seem extravagant. Probably have nice amenities as well. Area is relatively safe in comparison to most.

Check out some of the apts. on N. Tryon and Mallard Creek Rd. I would get a roomate to split the rent and bills down the middle, you can get a two-bedroom in University Area for around $800 or so.
