I bought some chicken breasts, thighs, and livers from Compare a few days ago. The breasts are OK, but the cats don't even want the other stuff. It had a smell to it. I usually shop at HT and FL, but even their supposedly fresh chicken often has an odor to it.

Where can I buy good chicken that isn't hugely expensive?

Try the Perdue chicken at Lowes Foods.

The butcher shop in Ballantyne "What's Your Beef" has fresh chicken. $4.49 lb. for chicken breast, split breast $2.89/lb, thighs $2.49/lb. (live not on the price list, but they sell it). I was told they get it directly from a farm in Union County. Natural, free range, hormone free, no antibiotics.

I haven't noticed any odor to their product and its always been fresh.
