So since we will be spending our first 4th of July in NC we wanted to find something fun to do with the kids. any suggestions? any fairs going on? or big fireworks show?

there is events all over from the lakes to the suburbs and center city hosts
Red White and Boom
Charlotte Center City Partners

I stop going to it because the last several years it has been an unsafe event due to the fighting and riot conditions .

I wouldn't go uptown anymore either. Normally uptown is actually one of the safest places in Charlotte, but not on the 4th. Welcome to charlotteknights.com for WBT Sky Show (they used to do it uptown before there were so many problems). Carowinds | North and South Carolina's Themed Amusement Park puts on a good show too.

Apparantly there is a parade in "downtown Indian Trail" (from the Indian Trail website).
Can anyone tell me where exactly downtown Indian Trail is? We're moving to Indian Trail next week but I don't think I've seen "downtown" yet.
