We've just had a blast the past few months! I've never been scared downtown or felt unsafe. But as a newbie I have to go off the opinions of others. It's sad but true that any place with numerous people can turn into a dangerous situation. I think we'll go to Charlotte for the 4th and celebrate our history!
That post about it being dangerous in uptown is two years old, not sure if it still applies? I haven't heard anything like this.
