I was actually sad to hear people saying that it might be dangerous in the city. I have never lived near a city as big as Charlotte. Any festival, fair, celebration in Charlotte is exciting for us. I love the idea of being in a city with big buildings then heading home (20 min) and being in the woods. We have had nothing but good time everytime we have been downtown. We've just had a blast the past few months! I've never been scared downtown or felt unsafe. But as a newbie I have to go off the opinions of others. It's sad but true that any place with numerous people can turn into a dangerous situation. I think we'll go to Charlotte for the 4th and celebrate our history!

That post about it being dangerous in uptown is two years old, not sure if it still applies? I haven't heard anything like this.

Just saw this on the news. Looks like a really nice event. They've got activities schduled for Friday and Saturday including fireworks both nights...
