Can anyone explain what the signage on 277 and Indpendence mean that have a N in a red square and some attractions listed to next to it? I have been trying to figure out what this sign means for a while and have come up with nothing.

It's a lame attempt to help people find attractions in uptown. Apparently they have divided uptown into 4 quadrants (North, South, East, West).

Problem is, how would you (or a visitor to Charlotte) know which quadrant you are in, and how to get to another one?

Seems like a huge waste of money to me.

That is exactly what I thought. There are no follow up signs anywhere to match them!

Sounds like another attempt to present Charlotte as a big city. I bet Atlanta has signs like that, so we must as well. Problem is, downtown Charlotte can be driven in less than ten minutes. It's not big enough to warrant quadrants, yet. And if a sign requires explanation to a local, visitors aren't going to have a clue.

I saw that as we set out to explore Uptown yesterday. Luckily the fiance use to live here before because those signs did not make any sense. Thank goodness I have a GPS and google.

A failed attempt at voluntary assimilation. Proliferated by identity crisis and a teenage mentality.

Y'all will **** and moan about any-damn-thing, evidently. good grief.

there is corresponding signage all over the place uptown, and wayfinding assistance is always a nice perk for visitors. it doesn't seem that damn complicated to me!

Yeah, well nobody asked you if you thought it was complicated. And I find it funny that you are complaining about others complaining.

My husband and I tried to figure it out and could not. I agree a huge waste of money. Plus we thought it was confusing. Why not have little signs that instruct you to exit at whatever the exit to take to that attraction is? I couldn't tell where I would exit from those signs.

I thought we already had those signs?

Just little brother (Charlotte) trying on big brother's shoes (Atlanta) and finding out they don't fit.
