The Wando High School Girls soccer team won the 2010 South Carolina AAAA State Championship on Friday night after defeating Maudlin High School 2-1 in a penalty kick shoot-out. The Wando girls concluded a spectacular 2010 season with a 26-0-1 season after outscoring their opponents 160-2. They have compiled a 116-5-8 record the past 4 years and now hold a state record of 25 season shut-outs, a goals against state record of 2 and the third best state record of 160 goals for the season. Quite an accomplishment.
I have posted this for the information of the "soccer moms" out there who may be looking for a high school that not only excels in academics, but also athletics.
Photos of the game can be found here. (http://www.postandcourier.com/photos/galleries/2010/may/22/wando-tops-mauldin-4a-soccer-championship/ - broken link)
