I don’t see a reference or asterisk on this chart on in the article saying that they meant only the South Carolina portions of the Charlotte and Augusta metros. And since they are in alphabetical order until Augusta and Charlotte at the bottom, I believe they just threw those two in as whole metros.

The SC DEW doesn't do calculations for jurisdictions that are not in SC.

Judging by the chart, metro Charleston has probably moved ahead.

Do not shoot the messenger, again. Bankrate says Charleston is the second best city in the nation to live in. The following article provides metrics. Enjoy. Don’t overthink it. Be positive. Who knows? Next time we might beat Raleigh out of the #1 spot.

The problem with their ranking is it is for the entire metro. So you would have to move to an affordable corner of the area and trek to all the attractions that spike scores.

I would venture to say Raleigh is even worse as their traffic is brutal and the metro sprawls what feels like 60 miles.

The report says Charleston scored lower on housing affordability, so that’s accounted for.

Here's yet another of those statistics based ratings in which Charleston does well.

https://www-counton2-com.cdn.ampproj...flavor-list%2F

These ratings are what they are... not a complete picture and it would be foolish to take them as the final word on anything. Still, it is telling when a city consistently ranks highly across several measures and Charleston has been doing that for quite a few years now. Is Charleston really the sixth best small city in the US for restaurants? Is Asheville really number one? Maybe or maybe not but it's a safe bet that all the cities on this list have some really good restaurants. That's what I get out of these click bait type headlines. They at least serve as some kind of metric to go by.

Agreed. Some will claim the CVB has list payment accounts with regular automatic drafts. Whatever.

But at the end of the day, they are clickbait designed to get people to view ads and get trackers placed on their phones and computers.

Bankrate, for example, wants to get cookies in your browser that will follow you and send metrics to their aggregator. God forbid you go to Realtor.com after Bankrate. You’ll become the target for advertising about home loans.

Choices we all have to make.
