I am a single 33 year old widower of Indian ancestry. I am a vegetarian, non-smoking, lightly drinking, healthy individual. I have lived in the Pacific NW my whole life and am contemplating a move to somewhere warmer and different just for a change. I vacationed in Charleston about five years ago with my wife and thought it was a fun city. I am an upper middle class professional and have had a challenging time meeting other professionals in the town I am living in in Oregon. All of my family live in Seattle. My questions are as follows: How bad is the smoking there? Would I be even more challenged to find other professionals in Charleston? Would I be effectively shut out of the dating pool for racial or ethnic reasons? Is there an energy and a buzz in Charleston that makes it a fun place to be? If you were in my position, what would you do? Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks!
