I have a question that I hope can be answered by the members of this forum. I will be relocating to the above mentioned area in April of this year. I have three children grade school to middle school. Which of the two mentioned areas would be the safest and with a good school system? Dose it matter if you reside in on place but attend school in another. Thanks to all.

Hands down, Summerville. The only part of North Charleston to consider is upper Dorchester Road and in Dorchester County. Stay away from Charleston County in the Summerville/North Charleston area.

You're assigned to public schools based on where you live.

I live in Windsor Hill off Ashley Phosphate.

We've raised two sons here and couldn't be happier with where we chose to live.

Good area in a great school district.

Good to excellent single family residences/houses in nice neighborhoods.

The elementary school is literally IN Windsor Hill.

We've lived here in Windsor Hill for 8 years or so and we really love it.

We've never been afraid to let our kids (now 14 and 16) walk to their friends' houses (1-3 blocks away) and never afraid to go out at night.

The farther back into Windsor Hill you go the newer the houses. Actually a new section going up even now.

The grocery store (Foodlion) at the corner of Windsor Hill Blvd and Ashley Phosphate is a huge convenience and were within a few minutes of shopping on Rivers or driving up to Summerville.

I leave for work in West Ashley around 4:45am and I'm at the office (vicinity of Rick Hendrick Chevrolet) by 5:00am. (I do admit though that if I left at 5:30am I prob wouldn't get to work until 6:00am or later).

The boys love the schools (Windsor Hill Elementary, River Oaks Middle, Fort Dorchester HS) and we couldn't be more pleased with the teachers and staff.
