Hey all! I'll be moving to the Charleston area soon and will be working at the VA hospital
downtown. Where I'm living is only a mile/5 minute bike ride from my apartment. My question is...been reading about how the city isn't really made for bike riding, but even that short of a commute? I'd have to go down President, over Septima Clark I believe...
I'd really love to try riding to work instead of driving, so any tips or suggestions from ppl we ho do it would be great! Thanks!!
To ride on some of our DT streets is to take your life in your own hands...
I do not ride on the street here at all, but if you come from an area that is a major metro area and are used to it than you would be the best one to judge the ride once you get here...
Going from Hampton Park? Take Huger to Fishburne, then follow Lockwood to Calhoun. That's a much nicer bike ride. Going down President or Rutledge and crossing over 17 works as well. It's just that Lockwood takes you along the river.
