Why was there no hype over this phone at all? It seems to have the exact same features of the Motorola Droid, but for half the price. It looks like an Android version of the HTC Imagio which is double the price.

Anyone know the price difference for the Eris that can easily match the other two?

The Eris isn't running Android 2.0 like the Droid is.

Supposedly there is a software update coming in January for 2.0

The phone would be damn near perfect with 2.0 and a better battery life.

Does that make a huge difference? Especially if an update is coming?

Yes. Plus the Eris is nowhere near as powerful.

Besides the fact that HTC makes a phone that lasts 3 months.. my last motorolla phone lasted 3years.

I had the option to choose between a HTC droid Eris and Motorola Droid, after visiting these sites site Motorola Droid Forum - Motorola Droid Forum - Index and HTC Droid Eris Forum - Index I have decided the Motorola Droid was a better option for me, because it has a QWERTY Keyboard, the softare is android 2.0, free GPS navigation. VS only 1.5 Android OS for the Droid Eris.

The major difference between the motorola droid and the htc droid eris is the 2.0 compared to the 1.5, and the home screen on the motorola has 3 panels while the eris has 7.The other item is that the motorola has a physical keyboard that slides out while the eris is full touchscreen only w/no separate keyboard.
