The other day I used my 'upgrade' from a Droid 3g [with unlimited data package] to a Samsung Note 2 4G.
Little did I know that by switching from 3G to 4G AND using the discounted phone price, I would get KNOCKED OUT of my unlimited data plan.

Now Verizon wants me to pay 40$ a month for 2 gigs.
So I went looking for a newer 3G phone on Verizon's site---and OF COURSE they only have one--the Apple 3 or something...
I wanted the Note because the screen was bigger.
In 5 days I already used 1 gig of data.
Suggestions?
I downloaded 3 small games--none get playing online
TMZ mobile app.
3 nightly news apps.
thats it!

Verizon made this announcement a LONG time ago. Buying a phone at the discounted price kicks you off of unlimited data and onto the newer plans. This should have been on the paperwork you signed while upgrading. Verizon allows you to keep your unlimited data and old plan by simply buying the new phone at retail price.

Yeah.
I know this now.
The only thing I could have done to keep unlimited data would have been to buy the Samsung at full retail price.
$800.00

Yea. It generally makes sense to buy the phone at retail price unless you're on a family plan.

I am on a family plan.
Still...I cant justify returning the phone and re-buying it at 800 just for free data.

Im stuck though...I dunno what to do.

Once you ended the old contract, that was it. You can't go back to it by undoing your purchase.

Not true. 14 days(and the restocking fee) and you an cancel your new contract and go back.
