Irishiis49,
they just have a platform and social media. imagine this family living a century ago. no extraordinary talent like acting or singing., no plastic surgery to the extentof what it is today... they would go into hiding. imagine kris jenner showing you her real face.. lol
we arent the fools we are the easily entertained ones.. ! lol
I never have and never will watch one minute of a reality show, especially one based around a talentless bunch of never done anything notable media whores...but...I had to comment on this nitwit choice of a baby name. Didn't these two idiots realize that if they named trhe kid "Pacific" and used "North" as a middle name they would have garnered even more attention.
...and those are the last words and minutes of my life that I will ever waste on these nobodies, who in actual reality, really are not worth noting. Blecch!
North symbolizes freedom in African-American culture. When slavery was abolished in the 'North' after the Revolutionary War, Black people began looking to the 'North' for freedom. All of those brave souls who ran away from bondage in the South followed the North Star. North is a compass, a guide toward freedom. This is why Frederick Douglass names his newspaper the 'North Star'. While I will never know why Kanye West chose to have a career in Hip-Hop, the fact remains, that his mother, the late Dr. Donda West was a very educated, and accomplished scholar who taught college English, Literature, etc. for over 30 years before she passed away. She was deeply rooted in African American history/culture, and an early Civil Rights activist. I think by giving his child the name 'North', he is honoring what his Mother stood for.
Yeah, I doubt that's why he chose the name, but that is JMHO. Doubt the name would have crossed his mind if his last name had been Williams.
As a side note, I've NEVER met anyone, let alone a black person, named "North", despite the historical significance of going North.
ETA: sorry, I posted this before reading the following responses.
I am so done if they really named their child North West...
I was expecting "Bluer Ivy"
