Really? I had no idea. I figured it would be as cold as Maine. I find Cape Cod warm and all points south. The Pacific I find was cold. Only around Santa Barbara it started getting tolerable.
Yeah it's a pretty neat phenomenon. On really hot summer days late in the season, the water can be so warm at some of the beaches in New Brunswick that it's not really refreshing!
Maine (and NH) beaches are FREEZING - Ogunquit, Wells Beach, Old Orchard - gorgeous beaches but freezing water! My favourite US beach is Hampton Beach (NH) - huge waves which are so fun they make you forget your legs are numb (and blue) LOL.
^^ what, that warm?! I experienced that in Florida, not refreshing at all.
I used to go to Old Orchard every year as a kid. Freezing! Went last year, and Kennebunkport was the best, wavy like crazy but warm, I didn't wanna get out. Everywhere else, OOB, Saco, York, etc. it was cold.
Been to Hampton Beach years ago, I think '96, and Rye too. Beautiful coast.
Wow, was surprised to see the place I live in, in the 8th place (Nova Scotia's South Shore). The rating was done out of 99 world places, by merits of "In excellent shape, relatively unspoiled, and likely to remain so." I knew the place was beautiful (and unknown, therefore unspoiled), - but to see that we are above some beautiful islands and places like Africa and Italy, - just wow.
4 Canadian places are in the top 10, and 3 of them in Atlantic Canada - great!
