Abdi, I do not know where you got your information but it is all wrong: first of all you would have to pay out of state tuition, which is extremely high, you would need to take remedial English I am sure, no, you can not live on campus free or anywhere close to free and California does have money available for student loans, but it is highly competitive.

By the way, Minn has some very good universities. Why do you think Ca would be better for you and by now you would have needed to apply and be accepted if you plan on entering college this year.

You guys realize that the OP is probably 21-years-old and has already made his decision by now...

On top of that, this was his only post.

If you are single, have no children, and not a lot of debt that will eat away at your income, you can do anything. You can live anywhere. I have a friend from New York, she moved to California--the bay area. She has a limited income. She found a room to rent at $300 per month by the beach. When I say room, I mean a small bedroom--a dorm if you would like. She shares a bathroom with three other girls. She lives well for a single person with no attachments. Yet, she works full time to make ends meet and to buy gas for her old beat up toyota pick up. She lives it up by the beach on her days off. Not bad eh? When you are single and free, you can do anything.

The most expensive part in moving to CA is the actual move. Living here is actually not that expensive. I live in Roseville, CA which is outside of Sacramento and could easily live on my own. It's the suburbs, so it's not a horrible place to live. However, If you are coming to go to school I would suggest going somewhere else. CA is going through terrible issues with the state budget and unfortunately it's taking a huge toll on education. Not only is the tuition skyrocketing, but it's virtually impossible to get in. They are cutting classes and programs at every college. Do NOT come here if you plan on going to community college. I am in Community College and having to move out of state because the CSU and UC's are accepting NO transfer students. California is a wasting craphole for students. Just keep that in mind.
