My husband has been offered a job in each city with Kaiser. We've toured both, but so hard to decide! We don't have kids, 3 small dogs, and will rent for the first year or so. We like the housing area in both towns. As far as traffic, safety, things to do, things to do within a couple hours...how do we choose??! ANY advice would be great. There is so much negative stuff about each city, some positives would be good. We're coming from Michigan, and we understand our whole lifestyle will be different. Thanks everyone!!!

Thats a tough choice. I would choose Modesto if i had to choose one or the other.
The only reason for me would be Modesto seems to be just a bit smaller and closer to Tahoe. Tough choice. If you do choose Modesto make sure your living on the east side of town. Stay away from the West. North should be ok also.

It's a draw! I would probably go with Modesto since it's a smaller town and closer to Yosemite, Reno/Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area.

I think I'd also have to choose Modesto considering it's closeness to Nevada for a getaway. Not to mention if you miss the snow, that's not too far either, yet you won't have to be dealing with shoveling the drive

Default The coin came up heads which means modesto

I would choose Modesto, It's a reletively quiet town, but close to a lot of big towns to the north and west and a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do to the east, housing prices are awesome compared to the bay area. Fresno is getting kinda big with no other real major towns around it.

yeah, staying in Michigan without sunsine for months at a time, watching the floreclosures. We are SO out of here! Looking at mid-may so hubby can start June 1st.
it's a stuggle. We met more people in Fresno, and the company seemed a bit more organized, so we lean that way. I don't know if we can really go wrong either way, can we? Hey smiller4597, got a house here I can sell you and YOU can come make crap wages and not see sunshine. LOL The only person i would send here would be my x-husband. Then life would be complete. They have a dog park in Fresno, anyone know about modesto??

No Thanks. I wouldn't bank on all this sunshine you expect. You will see alot of very, very thick smog and or fog though.
