But I think if CA has Universal health care, the people from other states will move in and drive us cost for everything even more. If you don't think your rent is high enough, it will be even higher. Same with housing.
California will go bankrupt for sure. All the state employees and Calsper people have to pay for the universal health care.

I cover all my employee. In the last 3 years the coverage has gone up about the same % as before the ACA, but coverage has cost more as the co-pay to see a doctor went from $20.00 to $60.00 and the deductible from $2000.00 to $6600.00. It costs both the business and the employee more than before. It is really overall no different than what we had except people pay for those with pre-existing conditions and the young and healthy get punished if they do not buy it.

It favored some and hurt others.

One the whole, the ACA helped people a lot more than it hurt them. Huge difference in cost and coverage for people who had pre-existing conditions before the ACA. Infinitesimal charge for those not having insurance. And I don't see how those who elected not to carry insurance were punished in any other way. WE'RE the ones getting punished when we have to pick up the cost of the non-insured when they do seek medical help.

It looks doubtful that single payer could be implemented here now. However, Skelton does not factor in the current costs of employers covering their employees, nor does he include the huge amount of profit that insurance companies currently make off of us.

I don't be know how you can it helped more people than it hurt. That is just not true. It hurt millions more than it helped. Health care costs have sky rocketed. Many states only have one or two Obamacare options and those are looking to drop to one to zero next year and deductibles are so high that it is like not having insurance at all unless you have a medium to large health condition which doesn't happen to the under 40 group as a whole who have been asked to pay for the nonsense with exceptionally higher premiums to help the relatively few people with pre existing conditions that didn't already have coverage.

And, of course, this is by design. One major tool in the arsenal to cut down on the price of health care is to cut the amount of health care being consumed, and the easiest way to do that is to raise the marginal cost of a doctor visit (co-pay) and to raise the deductible threshold.

The objective is to get people to consume fewer doctor visits.

Can only imagine how much higher costs would have been if the ACA had not been implemented. And how much higher they will be if TrumpCare were to take effect: All the horrific details of the GOP's new Obamacare repeal bill: A handy guide - LA Times

This thread is about health insurance in California, not other states.
