My thoughts are it's a joke. Obamacare already took away health coverage from those that couldn't afford the higher priced premiums, so the claim that millions will lose health coverage is disingenuous (it's already happened so what difference does it make). California's plan will make health care insurance more expensive for anyone that has a government or employer based insurance (by the tune of just under $3k). No thanks. The middle class can barely afford to live in any metropolitan area in California already. I've always found people that talk about how great Single Payer Health Care is to have very poor math skills and never look at the other side of the equation (those that it hurts)...just like they do with Obamacare (yeah, there's two sides to every issue).

Recent polls show net favorability of single-payer programs plummets when people hear what economic sacrifices are necessary to make the numbers work. For voters, eliminating private insurance, hiking taxes and slashing the benefits of today’s Medicare program — all of which to various degrees would be required in any Medicare for all plan — are non-starters.

‘Medicare for all’ is popular, but it's likely doomed to fail:

CA wouldn't have the first clue how to administer such a program, nor could they afford it. Top tier doctors and hospitals would want nothing to do with it (some opted out of ACA/Covered CA already) leaving the lower tiered people and places to pick up the slack and eventually businesses would leave the state because it wouldn't be desirable.

"Health insurers have been successful at two things: making money and getting the American public to believe they’re essential.

The Affordable Care Act allowed private insurers to continue playing a role in delivering coverage not because they were any good at it but because their wealth and size made them formidable adversaries to reform if they chose to fight it. They were sufficiently mollified to remain out of the fray, but some of the big insurers then did their best to undermine the individual insurance exchanges once they were launched in 2015."

Health insurance companies are useless. Get rid of them:

The difference between a "feel good" law, which CA is famous for, and reality. They rarely meet.

I was just in Denmark. They have free health care and schooling including College.

Oops, minimum Fed Tax is is 36% and max is 51% on all income and they have no sales tax they have a Vale Added Tax (VAT) and it is 25% on everything except ... cars. There the minimum tax when you buy a car is 85% and can rise to over 150%.

Now try and get a law changing the system to that for free health care, etc. No one could afford it except the rich and they buy personal health insurance because it is better than national health insurance.

Eventually, the new bill AB 1400 will make healthcare free in California.
https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...02120220AB1400

What's Covered?

Traditional medical services, dental care, prescription drug coverage, long-term care, and mental health and substance use treatment for everyone at point of service.

There will be no copays or deductibles. It's all totally "free".

Where did you get the idea that any of that would be "free"?

Just vote for the politician who proposes it, and she/he will implement it? Isn't it simple in a democratic state?

Many health insurance companies are not including the COVID in their insurance plans. They only come forward where there is no risk and only their profit. Dental insurance is the same case as emergency dental procedure are not included by many companies.

That's not correct. Under current law, insurance companies cannot exclude coverage for particular conditions, nor can they refuse to insure people who have had Covid. Dental insurance is completely different, it's not covered by the ACA so insurers can refuse to cover any treatments or conditions that they want as long as it's listed in their policy.
