Hmmm... I think I would go the opposite of Lt Dan, but only because I have more experience with Fresno than Bakersfield (family lives there). They are really trying to clean Fresno up and have had some successes. My friends who moved here from Bakersfield say they would never go back.

Fresno. Bakersfield has no entertainment, Super Wal-Marts, and LA gangs.

Bakersfield is a great place to live and I also think the crime is lower in Bakersfield than in Fresno.

Bakersfield is also just 2 1/2 hours away from L.A.

I live in Bakersfield and I like it, there are pkenty of things to do and in all the years I've lived here I have never seen a gang, I live in the NW and enjoy it, of course if you live in certian areas I'm sure it would be rough not unlike any city. I've never lived in Fresno but have been there fron time to time, it looked like a good place to live, they do a lot of construction and seem to keep things up better than Bakersfield, I would probably pick Fresno just because it is farther north.

Been to both for limited amounts of time and I can say I don't mind Bakersfield, but Fresno not so much
