Are we supposed to pity this troopers pay? Do people not realize how much money 110k is? According to C-D, average household income in Fresno is $43,223. His pay is $66,777 above the average household income in Fresno. Over two and 1/2x's the average income. That's nothing to whine about and a good chunk of change before benefits and pension.

I bet a lot of troopers in North Carolina would be chomping at the bit for CHP pay and benefits.

*sigh* the high pay also means attracting the best candidates. Do you really want the CHP to have no choice but to higher people of a lesser Caliber? Would you feel safe? I think the military should also get paid like this.

*Sign* plenty of qualified candidates. Supply and demand like any other profession. Or we can pay them all more and be even more broke then we are now, that sounds good right? smack:. This is how many government employees are getting salaries/benefits that are out of whack with the private sector. People like you idolize them.

I wouldn't mind the military personnel being paid better if they severely cut its size and got rid of some of the wastefulness. Then, those remaining, sure that reasonable.

*sigh* State jobs usually don't differentiate in pay scale from one geographical region of the state vs. another. Supply and demand has little to do with the pay scale of government jobs either. Fresno may be reasonable, but I know a CHP officer in Monterey and his wife works because she has to for them to be able to afford the mortgage and two kids. 110K isn't that much on the coast (and you should know that if you live in the Bay Area).

I think we should all say *sigh* before each post as some sort of passive/aggressive exercise.

No. 110k is a lot of money anywhere in this country. And having both spouses work is common-place here.

I'd love to be living your lifestyles if 110k is not a lot of money to you guys .

Supply and demand SHOULD play a role in the pay scale. Just like the private sector. I'm tired of the coddling and idolizing of public employees. A lot of these are noble professions, but compensation should be in line with someone in the private sector commensurate with their education, skills etc. Is that not reasonable?

Can't think of anything other then a high-level security firm.

But pay should be commensurate with supply and demand, education requirement, skills, and job difficulty etc.

As important as their job may be, I don't think it warrants a salary this high with the lavish benefits etc. But maybe, unlike someone of you, I can appreciate how much 100k+ a year is with the ability to retire at a young age with most your salary. Maybe I'm not spoiled or entitled enough to think that a wage (WELL ABOVE) the average household income is just okay. Especially in a state with the highest poverty rate in the country.

And look at the OP's post, we got someone raking in $484,000. This state deserves to be broke lmao good riddance. California has become a joke around the country and it's too bad. Didn't have to be this way.

Not really, two cars, a mortgage, couple of kids in college, $9,000 per month, If your mortgage should be no more than 30% of your income, that gives you about $3,000 per month for a house, that is going to get you, very roughly a $300,000 house, which in much of CA is not much of a house.

Two cars, at what, $400 per month per car, ? Plus expenses fuel and insurance maintenance etc. $1,000-2000 per month

Couple kids in college, tuition, $2,000 -4,000 per month.

Coddled and idolized, now who would that be? Teachers? Seems like all the rightwing whackos hate teachers.
Police, fire, ride along, see how coddled they are, and especially for police, how they are idolized by the citizenry.

Caltrans? Coddled? Idolized?

Maybe I am missing something.

Socialist, you want us citizens to pay for cops, teachers and firemen? Socialism pure socialism. Privatize them, Make education only available to those who can pay for it, that will help our democracy!

Cops, Firemen should have credit card readers, before you get help, you get charged. Can't pay, tough, the rich can, why should their taxes go to help the poor, let them die off,

Right? That is what you really want isn't it?

MOD CUT
