I've taken a travel nursing position in Rancho Mirage, I'm moving from MI and taking the 'Ultimate Road Trip' to get there by October 17th. Looking to live in Palm Desert. Seeking any advice, suggestions, etc. I'm born and raised in MI and have never even been to California. I guess if I hate it I can do anything for 13 weeks right! Look forward to some replies. Also, cool things to do. Love to bike, rollerblade, be active...

I have no advice, but only here to wish you luck and hope you enjoy the move and new adventure. It's just for 13 weeks? Shouldn't be too bad, even if you're not a big fan of Rancho Mirage, wherever that is in California.

I never seriously gave California a second thought to be honest. The earthquake thing freaks me out worse than tornadoes

13 weeks is the minimum contract, but I think I will fall in love...

I'm not afraid of Mother Nature...

It's near Palm Springs.

Thanks

13 weeks is long enough to get you into the early part of ski season. Ski in the morning, golf in the afternoon.

Default Michigan ex-patriot

I moved to California from Flint in 1988. Never looked back. I couldn't believe how much easier life is where the weather is good. I can not speak for the Palm Desert area. I live in the western side of the central valley. I really love the diversity of people and climates in this state. I really like the central coast. Be sure to visit as many areas as you can.

Hi young lady. Congratulations on your move and career! I would like to agree with the previous poster about the Central Coast. If you get the chance to visit that area of California DONT PASS IT UP! San Luis Obispo,Pismo Beach,Morro Bay. I was an operating room nurse there for almost 30 years. It is Gods Country! Good luck!
