Hi!
I would like to move to Southern California, but I have no idea to which city.
Probably something with pretty low crime rate, nice people and not too expensive. (I could pay about $1,500 a month for 1-room apartment)

Carlsbad looks O.K.
What about earthquakes in that region?
Any other comments appreciated. (About cities etc)

What about Irvine and NewPort Beach? Is it possible to get an apartment there for about $2,000 a month? And what about earthquakes in that area?

Good luck.......you will need it! It is not cheap here ANYWHERE! and as far as living somewhere that the crime rate is low in California is not a reality either. Everytime you turn on the TV there is more about crime. We have schools with security guards (aka: campus police) in all of our schools and kids aren't safe. I am trying to get out of this H E -double hockey sticks place. I want to move home and forget this place. Oh yeah, and you spend a fortune on gas here because everything is miles and miles away. If you plan to go to the beach EVERY DAY or go to amusement parks EVERY DAY, then I guess this is the place to be. If that's not your dream then there isn't a whole lot else to do besides driving the freeways.
I don't know where you live right now, but where ever it is...it hasto be better than here!
Maybe you should think about doing a TRIAL RUN first, before you ship all of your stuff here and then want to go back home. It would be a whole lot more economical.
As far as finding a place for $1500. a month in the areas that you are looking at.....that is going to be real tough if not impossible...........there is NOTHING cheap here. Remember the old song "all of the gold in California is in a bank in Beverly Hills.............in somebody else's name" So remember that California is not all that it is cracked up to be. Make sure you do your homework!

Thanks for the answer.
I don't know where I wanna live anymore.
Maybe you can suggest something?
I like Washington (As far as I know it's pretty safe there), but I don't like the weather there. (I like warm weather all year long)
It seemed like California is the place to be...

Forget all things I wrote above.
Just suggest me some nice city in Southern California (with low crime rate), where I could get an apartment (1-room) for about $2,000-$2,500 a month.

You can definitely find a nice one bedroom in the price range you mentioned.
Look into Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach. The water is at your fingertips and plenty of night life

I recommend looking in Orange County (Newport Beach-70,000 pop., Huntington Beach-200,000 pop.. If you want a laid-back lifestyle based around the beach with very low crime- this is it.

By your screenname "surfer,' I know you'll like it.

Please don't consider L.A.-it's full of crazy, uneducated people and is like living in Mexico.
