Woah, this is one very tall tree. Nine years ago, it was the tallest known plant in the world. (See if you can spot the three people, blue shirted, hanging at different points on the trunk).

I saw it last week hiding behind a mailbox. Mvaden from this forum has probably been there, he/she is incredibly knowledgeable about the redwoods.

The mdvaden site covers that redwood. Apparently the Stratosphere Giant.

Balog's photograph in the article really showcases the height. The Vaden image of the lower trunk shows that its gargantuan too.

Compared to the Nichols coast redwood photo in National Geographic, I like Balog's just as well even though its not as seamless.
