Sounds like a match-up has begun, between Ferndale and Coeur d' Alene, as to which really has the world's tallest live Christmas Tree.

Let's see where this one goes.

California may have a shortage on money, but certainly no shortage on trees. Think Ferndale can hold it's title?

You may get little argument on that one - LOL

Did you read a reply to that news article in the link?

A Ferndale fireman posted about their string measuring. Sounds pretty hoaky when we think about it? What kind of string? How much does it stretch? How did they reach the top of the tree and hold a string or tape there? Where on the ground did the string land? Was the string straight or bent around dozens of branches on the way down?

Case is probably closed though, with the exception of the firemen's much higher number.

Here's an interesting bread crumb ...

The arborist in the OP Coeur d' Alene news article link who offered to settle the Ferndale Christmas tree height issue, is part of a two man team which made the news in Oregon this week for 4 new world's tallest pines.

KGW NEWS - New World's Tallest Pine Trees

They found several super tall ponderosa that nobody seems to have discovered before. Wonder if the fire fighters in Ferndale will invite them?
