Again, it's a matter of priority.

My neighbor down the street has two married sons, both about to walk away from their homes, and one will move his family in with Mom and Dad.

They had a baby earlier in the year that they had no business having (no insurance). But they've been trying to make some payments to the hospital, nevertheless, instead of making the mortgage. To me that sounds backasswards. So now they're going into the hole with baaaaaad credit for both. And his father complained to us about the spendy "smart phone" and high-cost cable that the boy HAS to have.

But when they move in with the parents they'll probably not be required to pay a share of the bills (which is wrong).

Starting over will not be as easy for them as you think. Bankruptcy laws are stricter, and bad credit lingers for a long time.

I have been complaining for almost 20 years about how young people, single and married, are relying more and more on their parents when all they need (in most cases) is common sense. And a lot of the responses I'd get is that I was being negative. Well, it's only gotten worse. It's like we're breeding imbeciles.
